About the American Finance Association

The American Finance Association is the first academic organization of its kind, dedicated to the study and advancement of knowledge about the financial economy. Its launch was planned at a meeting held in December 1939 in Philadelphia. In 1942, the first journal was published as American Finance. In August 1946, it was renamed the Journal of Finance and became a serialized periodical. The membership of the American Finance Association has grown steadily in recent times. The AFC sponsors an annual meeting in January each year, during which papers covering a full range of financial topics are presented, and the current president of the AFC speaks on a selected topic, according to a set of regulations governing these decisions.

Objectives of the American Finance Association

The American Finance Association seeks to provide mutual association for persons interested in finance to avoid the risks that credit institutions face in extending credit, such as the inability of a borrower to meet loan payments and interest due to excessive indebtedness, and the possibility of being found liable for failure to exercise prudence in deciding whether to extend, deny, suspend, or continue credit, in addition to the risk of being found liable for failure to exercise prudence in extending credit. The American Finance Association aims to improve the public’s understanding of financial issues and raise awareness of the dangers of imprudent borrowing and other investment risks. This is done through a digital space that connects a group of economists, marketers, and experienced entrepreneurs with newcomers or those newly interested in the field. The American Finance Association seeks to exchange ideas about financial issues and obstacles, through media channels, interactive programs, and online platforms, as the association focuses on the issue of media outreach, to correct many misconceptions about the field of entrepreneurship and free investment. The American Finance Association encourages students to study financial and administrative sciences in colleges and universities, especially those who have ambitions to enter the field of investment or entrepreneurship. Therefore, conducting such activities may be appropriate for the non-profit professional community in the field of finance.
